Bute Park Bat Meadow

The Bute Park Bat Meadow project created bat friendly wildflower meadow areas, habitat piles for a variety of wildlife and installed a selection of new bat boxes. It also allowed more people to access nature and actively help conserve wildlife, and see some of our amazing mammals up close.

This project had the following aims:

Create a new wildlife meadow along with habitat piles and new bat boxes

Monitor wildlife using the areas

Train volunteers and community members in wildlife gardening and wildlife monitoring techniques

Increase access to nature for under-represented groups

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across hundreds of regions in England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each region awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.

Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.

Thank you to all who voted for us – our project was the lucky recipient of £12,000! Please check here for more details of work party dates and events or contact us.
