BAT CARE

Cardiff has several registered volunteer bat carers who are able to administer first aid and rehabilitate injured and grounded bats. If you have found an injured bat, please take the following steps:

1. Try to contain it (e.g. in a clean shoe box or similar, without any large holes)

2. Put some water in a milk bottle lid in the box along with a clean dry tea towel or cloth

3. Call the Bat Conservation Trust’s Helpline 0845 1300 228 who will put you in touch with your nearest bat carer

4. Keep the bat indoors, in a quiet and safe location

If you would like to support our bat care work by contributing financially or by becoming a bat carer, please get in touch.

There is more helpful information on the Bat Conservation Trust website

Need a Bat Survey?

Please note, Cardiff Bat Group does NOT carry out survey work for commercial developments. If you require professional survey work, please refer to the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) website, which contains a Professional Directory of ecological consultants.
